IGEN Health Care Initiative Task Force (Fall 2011)

Goal:
The goal of this task force is to research and identify green healthcare practices and policies (as they pertains to Illinois and the Illinois community college system); identify how community colleges can promote, influence and train for green healthcare; and develop a strategy for integrating green health care across the state through the work of IGEN colleges.

Plan:
Over the next four months the Health Care Initiative task force will work to:
  • Research and/or review the following resources to identify if/how these can be implemented throughout IGEN:
    • Existing work completed by the IGEN administrative team, CIRCLE and select colleges in regards to energy efficiency and upgrades at hospital facilities
    • Green Guide For Health Care at www.gghc.org
    • Greening Medical Facilities Fact Sheet at www.secondnature.org
  • Work with the IGEN administrative team to further develop the purpose and mission of this task force.
  • Explore and identify opportunities for green health care and green health care facilities.
  • Provide recommendations for moving this initiative forward on a state-wide level through a green economy center hub.
