Task Forces
What is an IGEN Task Force?
![]() An IGEN Task Force is comprised of Illinois community college staff (i.e., IGEN liaisons, sustainability professionals, college administrators, etc.) and advisory group members (e.g., community leaders, topical experts). Each IGEN Task Force is assembled to research a group-selected sustainability topic to inform and make recommendations to college administration. IGEN Task Forces meet for a minimum of one semester to complete research on an identified topic and to develop a (or modify an existing) white paper. |
Topics and Scope
Task Force topics are identified at IGEN retreats, where Network priorities are defined by attendees and then translated into Task Force topics, through the IGEN administrative team, or upon request of the Presidents’ Steering Committee. Once formed, Task Force group members conduct research with a global scope, limited by parameters and desired outcomes specified by the IGEN administrative team and the Task Force.
Final Products and Review
The final products of a Task Force include a white paper, supporting documents and resources, which are reviewed by the IGEN administrative team and the IGEN Presidents’ Steering Committee co-chairs. After revisions, a final draft of the white paper is posted on the IGEN website in the Members Only section for review by all Illinois community college staff. After a comment period (and any necessary revisions), the white paper may be distributed to the public. A Task Force may continue to convene after this stage to continue research on the topic. IGEN Task Forces may recommend the creation of Best Practice Packages for their sustainability topic.
